Tal all,
While Farnacium is a role play chat, and is meant to be a fun escape from the drudgery that is RT for many of us, I wish it known that I personally take our committment to our home seriously. To me, at least, it's not "just role play", it's a committment to create an atmosphere in a Gorean setting that is comfortable, fun, and Gorean. As such, I wish it known that I am committed to making my home grow, with a distinct lack of internal strife, and drama that often plagues Gorean role play chats.
One of the things I've experienced in my many years on Gor is the mentality that "it's not real, and so it doesn't matter what I do. It's only Role Play". I find that mentality misguided, as no matter what we're doing, or where we're doing it, even in role play a part of US exists. In other words, there is, behind each "character" online a person. A person who has real thoughts, feelings, and intentions. These things often will determine HOW we role play, WHO we role play with, and WHAT we role play.
In this way we all, decide how best we wish to deal with the various role play styles that exist. But, let me explain one thing very clearly. Gaming (for lack of a better term) is not encouraged in my home. Shadowglade for example is my "character", and he is my ONLY character on online Gor. He is, in fact, what I envision MYSELF to be, if I had been born on this fictional planet, and raised with it's values. This, for obvious reasons is a problematic situation, as it's impossible for me, as a person born and raised on Earth to truly understand all the nuances that surely must exist on the fictional planet of Gor.
Let me be more concise: The having more than one human "character" on online Gor is not allowed if you are a slave, or free of Farnacium. Such things, as described in the slave manual are considered dualling, and this is strictly forbidden to slaves, and definately not welcome amongst the free.
To me, this is about committment to the people around you, and to one's home. If you cannot commit to me, and those around you in Farnacium, or to Farnacium itself, I would urge you not to allow such to be presumed, or assumed. To do so only encourages hurt feelings, possible interpersonal drama (as hurt feelings of course, lead to hard feelings) and this is not what I and those who helped me to found this homestone wish for it.
I wish you well,
Shadowglade
